ACADIA NIGHT SKY FESTIVAL

Celebrating the Starlit Skies of Downeast Maine

September 17-21, 2009

2009 Acadia Night Sky Festival Poster, by Tyler NordgrenThe Acadia Night Sky Festival, which took place September 17-21 on Mount Desert Island, was a community celebration designed to promote the protection and enjoyment of Downeast/Acadia’s stellar night sky as a valuable natural resource. The festival featured day and night activities, including science, poetry, art, family fun and hands-on learning for all ages.

The festival featured some of the last pristine night skies in the eastern United States and celebrated Downeast Maine’s unique commitment to measuring the quality of its starlit nights. In partnership with our community, we hope to enjoy and protect this inspiring resource for generations to come. Please see the festival Web site for all the details.
